All About Betty Blog Hop

ALL ABOUT BETTY BLOG HOP

The gals from The Burtonesque Dolls, Simply Betty Stamps and Simply Betty Challenges blogs figured it was a good time to put together a blog hop of our very own:

SIMPLY BETTY

This hop is ALLLLLLLLLLLLL about Betty and since October is Betty's favorite month and there are sooooo many exciting things happening, why not do it just before?!! This way we can get things warmed up for the whole October and Halloween theme. Kinda like an appie!!

And since Halloween is her favorite time of year you will be seeing mostly, if not all Halloween cards and we have used only Betty Emo's images.
In just the short time I have known Betty she is such a hoot!! She is such a fun and easy person to talk to. Sometimes we can get pretty silly in our Yahoo chat group. I look forward to getting to know her more and having a long time friend to come.

As the bottom of my card says
"Betty October is your month I hope you have a Spooktacular Time Enjoy it!!"

(sorry for the dark pictures we had all rain and dark clouds when I went to take this I will try to add a light picture when I have sun again)

I used the very cute Betty Witch that can be purchased --- HERE
She was colored with Copics, Stickles and Glitter, I also added 3D Glaze to the cauldron and glitter. I had a cute little witch charm I added for my Scrap Happy Witch. My paper is from BoBunny Boo Crew Masuerade (my favorite paper at the moment) Pearls, Lace, Spider Brads.

Without further ado, let's check out some more inspiring and creative cards from all the ladies. Please note because this is an appreciation blog hop there are no prizes. It's just for fun but the ladies wouldn't mind some luving from you anyway!!

It's Sketch Week at The Beary Scrap

Hello my Beary Scrap Friends
Today is my day to show you my card from Susan's fun sketch.
When I got my new papers from The Beary Scrap Store I couldn't wait to make something up with the new Haunted line from My Mind's Eye. What you can't tell from the pictures it all the dark black parts of the paper are all covered in fuzzy flock. OOO I love it and is actually why I keep my card kinda simple I really wanted to show off the paper.

I used Owen the Owl for my card today he is one the the fun new patterns released this month from Kimm. He was so fun and easy to make. He was made with some of the really thick Mulberry Paper in the store.
I also added some of the matching brads from the My Minds Eye Haunted Collection. I have seen somewhere I'm sure in blogland a zipper on a card because I have really been wanting to try to do something like this and with Susan's sketch it was perfect to give it a try. Owens broom was from my stash actually stolen from another card because I thought he would look so cute on it and I believe it may have come from Jolees. I cut all my mats using Spellbinders.

Easel Card Tutorial Fun Shapes

It's a Beary Scrap Tutorial.

Have you ever wondered how some people make fun shaped easel cards? Well I'm going to tell you how I make mine. Here is the card I'm going to show you how to make.

When I want to make a fun shape easel card and I know what I want to make like my pumpkin the first thing I do is go to Google.Com and search for pumpkin clip art. Now when your looking and type in your search make sure you click on Images on Google and this will pull up tons of images to look at. When your looking for your image don't look to much at whats in the image but the overall shape of it, because in most cases your going to add your own stuff to it. All my cards are 6x6 so I only need one 12x12 sheet of card stock. Now this was the shape I found for my pumpkin I liked.
Now as you can see I did use pretty much the whole image to make my card.
The first thing I do is re-size my shape to totally fill a 6x6 square and print it out, now this may take a few resizing to fit.

Once you get the right size the first thing you want to do is cut your paper take one 12x12 sheet of card stock and cut in half so you have two 6x12 sheets put one aside and cut one of them in half so you have two 6x6 squares take one of them and trace your pattern on to your card stock and cut out this will be your top.
Now when your making the bottom your going to want to fold your 6x12 sheet in half, now this follows the same idea when you were little making paper dolls and place your pattern with the top of your pattern over lapping the fold.

Now trace your pattern on to the card stock and cut out. When you open up your bottom it should look like this.

Now your going to fold only one half in half. Place the whole bottom piece on your Scor-Pal and your going to score on the 3" mark.

Now this is how your card should fold.

This is what your two pieces should look like.

Now just clip on the top but don't glue to see if you match up and your fold will line up to the bottom if you don't like where you card will sit you can adjust your fold so your card can sit where you like it.
Now unclasp and decorate the top of your card before you attach it.
After you get the top done and most of the bottom you can attach the top to the bottom.
I usually wait till I get the top on and glued before I attach the bottom center mat so I can place it in the right spot. My bottom center mat will be placed with pop dots the the top has a stopping point so it stands.

My card recipe:

Stickers from EK Success

Just wait till you see what we have in store for you. Our first challenge is a Photo Inspiration Challenge.

I used the very cute Chloe Princess you can get her ---HERE
When I saw her I had to color her up for my Thank you card for the vets. Long story short my kitty ended up with some bad stuff and had to get two operations to heal him up, hence the title "I won't hurt you. Again!" and I thought this would be a cute Thank you card.
(They got this Monday when he went back to get his stitches out and loved it.)

Here is a closer picture of my pretty blue eyed boy and yes he is wearing a baby onesie so he didn't pull out his stitches. And he had so many stitches his nick name was "Frank-n-Kitty" because he looked like he was cut in half and but back together.

Now for all the details on our first challenge.
Today we have a Pattern Color Combo... create a card, a scrapbook page, or any project at all using the both the pattern and the color, or just one of the two.
(Yep those are Betty's funky socks)

You have one week to complete your project and submit it via InLinkz.

Now Spook along!

Patricia's Attempt at Vintage

This weeks challenge at The Beary Scrap is Vintage.
Did you hear me scream at this challenge. I have to say my style is not vintage at all and this was a true challenge for me. But I think I pulled this one off. I'm really stuck in the Halloween theme this month, I love it. So I Googled vintage Halloween images and came up this this little cutie.

Now I feel guilty that this wasnt something I colored but I really liked the picture.

My flower on here was orginally solid white and I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist, I have to say I really need to play with the Gilmmer Mist more because the flower came out so pretty.

My card recipe:
Google Image
My Little Yellow Bicycle Frightful Halloween Pumpkin/Motif

Doilie
BoBunny Buttons
Stickles
Spellbinders
Hand stitching - I used Brazzill in Stitch'z Piercing Mat (on clearance) and the Beary Creative Tool to piece my holes.

Please take a moment today to remember all those Men and Women we lost that day, forever changing our lives. You will always be in our hearts.

Please also keep your thoughts and prayers for all our Men and Woman serving our Country here and overseas.

Now I currently have 73 followers at the moment and every time I post something Army related I loose a follower, this has happened to me every time I have posted something. I don't mean to offend anyone but I am a very proud mom of a US Soldier and I have no problems telling everyone. And if I loose a follower to show support to my son and all other soldiers then I loose them. Agree or disagree with the war these soldiers are still our family.

Stay Safe and Stay Strong over there in Iraq TJ, I love you. I can't for you to come home in a couple of months.

Elegantly Evil Visits Haunted Design House at Midnight Madness

Like my title I had a little play on the challenges.

It's so nice to get a chance to just get to play in challenges. I have been missing playing in challenges and I had some free time today to whip up this little cutie. Can you believe it I actually got this done in a couple of hours. I love it when the idea is in your head and works out the first time.

Now I have fell in love with the Sketches over at Midnight Madness, when ever I have to make a card and I need a sketch to use this seems to be the go to place for great sketches. Even if it's not the currant challenge they have going on I just scroll back thru there older challenges and see what inspires me.

Another great fun play for challenges is Haunted Design House there is always fun stuff getting posted up all the time there and if you have a love of Halloween year round this is a blog to follow.

( I just love it when the sun plays nice you get the sparkles, the fun part is you never know where they are going to show till you load the pictures sometimes they end up perfect.)
I used Lady Raven from Kenny K and you can get her -- HERE. Kenny K has some really cool digi's that are really fun to play with.
She was colored with Copic's and glittered.
My black flourishes are by Recollections and did have clear crystals on them but I took them off and replaced them with Teal Blue Pearls to match my cards colors. My background paper is by Making Memeories Toil and Trouble. My mat was cut out with Spellbinders and Inked with Colorbox Ink and Stickled. I added some black lace to the background.
Some of my supplies were purchased from The Beary Scrap.
