Precious Piecings Alter It Challenge

Have you seen the really cute
Well Lisa has started up a challenge blog and the first challenge is
Alter It
Im so glad to see Lisa starting up a challenge blog I have been collecting Lisa's patterns for a couple of years and have over 300 of her awesome patterns at the moment and growing. I was so floored the the other day when Lisa asked me to join the team. I felt really honored to be asked I couldn't say no after being a fan of her's for so long. I had just left another team because of accepting a part time job but there was no way I could pass this up, I guess sleep is over rated anyway.
Paper piecing is how I started all this crazy crafting madness.
When Anna from More Paper Than Shoes was having another Ustream class Saturday night I had knew that her daisys she was teaching that night would be prefect for this basket. Anna was using a hat for the class and after searching 6 stores NOT to find a hat I found this really cute basket and I'm really glad now I didn't find the hat because this came out so much better than what the hat would have been for my
 #472 Sunflower Fairy.
My #472 Sunflower Fairy was made with card stock and all the edges were Inked with Colorbox Ink. My eyes I used are from
The Beary Scrap's Beary Sweet Printables. I also used Stickles on her skirt and wings. I also added some Kaiser Craft Pearls and some Butterflies from Flora Doodles. My daisys are punched from Marvy Punches and Inked with Distressed Ink Vintage Photo. Some of my leaves are a die from Sizzix Branch w/leaves. I also added some floral pics I got from Michaels.
Now Lisa has been selling her patterns for years and I know some of you have got to have a few in your collections.
So lets see what you can make and enter it ---HERE--- on the new Paper Piecings Challenge Blog and become a follower while your there.
We also have a facebook fan page and please go there and "Like" us.

Chase the Winter Blues Away With Flowers

I can tell you that I have the Winter Blues especially after getting more snow Sunday night into Monday luckly we only got about 2", but every day is one day closer to Spring and I can't wait. What do you get with spring? Flowers!!
I just love flowers and now that I have learned to make these flowers by the awesome and tallented Anna from More Paper Than Shoe's in her Ustream Classes it's chasing the Winter Blues away.
When I made my first flower with her a couple of Saturday night's ago I knew I needed to come up with a really cool project to show them off and I came up with this 8x8 shadow box.

Here is my picture with out the box.
Have you had a chance to use some of the German Glass Glitter? I really wish the pictures showed just how pretty this is but that's part of the Winter Blues is lack of sun. But I took some plain white hat pins and dipped them in some of the Craft Tac Glue from Meyers the makers for the German Glass Glitter and rolled then in the Glitter and made them really sparkley. Watch out I don't think anything will be safe now it's all getting Glittered.

I added lots of pretty Pearls to my Sizzix Branch with Leaves Die and to my Butterfly Punch from Martha Stewart.

These flowers are just so pretty and a big thanks again to Anna for being a great teacher. You must go stalk her on her BLOG and see all her awesome flowers. My big flower is made with paper from Graphic 45 from there Springtime Collection as well as all my background paper. My flowers were made with the Tattered Florals Die from Tim Holtz and all the flowers and my mat were Inked with Colorbox Ink.

Who else do you see stuck in the flowers is a Tear Bear made with an Acrylic Paper Piecing Pattern and made with some of the Super Thick White Mulberry Paper. My pretty little corner flourishes are from Recollections. One of my background mats are cut out with one of the new Grand Nestabilities, Grand Labels One from Spellbinders.

Feeling Blue at The Beary Scrap

Our new challenge at
The Beary Scrap is the
Winter Blues
You can use this any way you want use it as a winter theme card or a blue card or how the Winter Blue's make you feel. I choose to go with the color blue.

This was a custom order card for Valentines Day and I love how this came out. The background paper is from My Mind's Eye from the Fine and Dandy Paper Collection. I cut my paper out with Spellbinders Grand Nestabilties Labels 1 and inked with Colorbox Ink. My bear head and hands are a Beary Sweet Acrylic Pattern and made with  Ginger Brown Mulberry Paper. My bears outfits are patterns from Little Scraps of Heaven. When the order for this was place it was request that I use a Civil War Bear kneeling and I ask Tricia if she could make a pattern for me like that and with in a few hours she made this one for me. I love it. I added Pearls and Stickles to the outfits. I also added a mulberry flower and dollies from my stash.

HaPpY BiRtHdAy!! Rio

HaPpY BiRtHdAy
Rio
I hope you enjoy your day.

Enjoy this little scrapbook to hold you 13th Birthday memories.

This is what the inside looks like. I left the pages blank so Rio can fill them in with whatever she likes, photos, notes, doodles, or any other special birthday memories.

Here are the details from the orginal post to show you how sweet Rio is:
Betty must have one of the sweetest 13 year old daughters.

This post is in Betty's own words from her blog:

Money, a trip, a party, or an overnight stay at Disneyland.... Rio came to me and said, "Mom, is it really really my choice what I get for my birthday?" I told her of course! So she says, "Ok, this year mom, I want money, but can I do anything at all with it? I mean anything I want mom?" Again, I said of course. "Okay, I want my birthday money to be donated to the children of St. Jude's hospital so they can have a special day, or whatever the money is needed for. I don't want to have money to just blow when I can help other kids that can't get out of bed, or go outside. That's what I want for my birthday!"

Of course I was already choking on my tears before she finished her sentence! What a marvelous request, selfless and special! I had a special image made for her 13th birthday, and I have not told her about it, or shown it to her. I am asking for a very special request myself in honor of my daughter's selflessness.

So Betty's special request was to make Rio a birthday card with this image, Rio I hope you enjoy your birthday you deserve it!!

If you want to see all the other cards that the Simply Betty Design Team made for her you can check them out on the challenge blog ---HERE---
Thanks for looking.

Also on a personal note just as I share my birthday with my mom in December my wonderful husband and his mom also share a birthday so I would like to wish them both a very Happy Birthday today.

CLP New February Challenge

It's the first of the month and it's time for a new challenge from
Now I got this card done in the nick of time. If anyone is in the Connecticut area you all know what I have been doing for days. We have had a record setting amount of snow, for January we ended up with 56.9" of snow YES that's just this month. We average 47" for the whole season. I have snow piles in my yard taller than me. We have spent the whole weekend getting all this snow off my roof, there has been a lot of roofs collapsing in our state and I wanted to make sure my roof was safe and after calling all over I finally found a roof rake Saturday morning and the fun began, NOT! But I quickly got my card done for our new challenge and I have to say for not crafting in 4 days I had plenty of mojo to make my card.

I used the very cute Magnolia Indian Tilda and colored her with Copics. All my papers are from Graphic 45. I used some pretty pink ribbon that was a very kind gift from Chelsea. I cut my mat out with Spellbinders and all my papers have been Inked with Distress Ink Vintage Photo. I added some Crystal Stickles to the outside of my mat. I add some pretty Mulberry Flowers and two hat pins.

Look a first for me I actually for once remembered to save my colors and take a picture. All these Copics were used on my Magnolia Indian Tilda.

Now here is the beautiful sketch you have to follow.

Now lets see what you can do following our sketch and enter you card ---HERE---

Here is a peek at all my snow:
This picture show you just how high it is next to my van and all the piles are this way.

You can barely see over the piles to see my van.

You can see it is as high as my deck railings.

This is on the back side over my deck on my garage just to show you how deep the snow was on my house. This is why we had to get all this snow down before the roof gave way. Mother Nature is not done with us yet we are going to be getting another huge snow storm starting Tuesday morning and not stoping till late Wednesday.

Thanks for looking.
